Works as expected but the handset cable is partially broken

I ordered the phone a few days ago. Arrived very quickly.
Very good phone, thank you, brought back many memories.

Woks exactly as described and expected but the cable of the handset is partially broken.
If it is crooked to the left - everything works. If you hold the handset with the other hand and the cable bends to the right - the mic does not work at all.
No visible damage to the cable - everything looks fine.

It does not seem possible to replace only the cable, so how would you replace the handset?
